Winter Wonderland

But there is a price!

The SNOW DISCLAIMER
This  is a spectacular place to live,  at one of the highest residences in
gloucester. Outside  you overlook the Beach and the Harbor, and the hills
of Gloucester and Rockport. Inside it it warm and comforable. with
plenty of room for entertaining, DSL , and some winter views of the beach.

BUT  you ought to know that:
Snow is always a possibility in Winter.  There is a long ( 600 ft) and relatively steep drive to the top of my mountain. It is usually clear (to a modestly experienced driver with front wheel drive)  within several  hours of the end of a snow storm.  (Have my own snow plow  .. and I have a big  snow blower for redundancy.. and I spread sand along the road. ) Also since I work at home most of the time,if necessary I can use the plow to clear If I know you are coming.).  I have never encountered a time when I could not get down, not even in a big storm. IN FACT THERE IS NEVER A PLOW MADE SNOW BANK TO NEGOTIATE.

However getting up  during a big  storm may not be possible, and one
would have to park at the bottom and walk the 600 ft. It is a possibility, but it hasn't
happened in six years since I have been here. Also the last 40 ft, is quite steep.  There is a place to park  at the
bottom of this steep part.  It is not unusual after a big storm to have to walk those last 40 ft. to the house until the day  after the storm. Because of its orientation, the first sunny day melts any residual ice and snow
to the pavement.
