How to verify a Host

Unfortunately Craig’s list , for vacation rentals has in the past been smeared by occasional fraudulent listings

Here are some ways to verify that the listing is real, and host is accountable.

1. Visit! If that is possible.
2. Look up James Rome In the Gloucester MA telephone book ( or equivalent) one number you should see is 978-281-5623. That is my home phone , which is also at the location of the rental. Call! That pretty much verifies that the host is at the location posted. (Craigs list may have my only cell: 508-523-6919 posted. Call either number or both.
3. On web go to http://gis.vgsi.com/gloucesterma/Parcel.aspx?Pid=8520
   it has all the validating information from The Gloucester Assessor’s Office.
   
   This could have been reached by going to http://www.gloucester-ma.gov
   then clicking on”departments” then clicking on “assessors “ , then clicking “assessments on line:on “ then click “Enter Online Data Base”, then type “27 old county Rd” in the address box.That will get you to the link on top which not only provides my name as owner , but also a picture of house( as on the property web site)
   
   
4. Perhaps simpler,On web do a google search for “H James Rome.Gloucester MA” You will see many references to James Rome at 27 old county rd..
